Domtar Paper Fun Truck Delivers Surprises

CHARLOTTE, N.C. A whimsically decorated truck recently roamed Los Angeles streets, stopping at schools, businesses, retirement communities and even a beach. Patterned after the ice-cream truck that most of us remember chasing down the street when we were young, the vehicle paused while the driver handed out gifts through the window that made people smile.

This wasn’t about dessert, though. This was the Paper Fun Truck (#paperfuntruck).

Domtar Corp. stocked the truck with coloring books, office paper, novels and cupcakes. People beamed as they showed their friends the paper-themed gifts.

The Paper Fun Truck—unveiled Wednesday at the company’s Annual Meeting of Stockholders—marks the latest addition to Domtar’s award-winning PAPERbecause campaign, which uses humor and facts to debunk myths about the paperless society. The Paper Fun Truck concept was created by Eric Mower + Associates and filmed by Evil Plan Studios of Los Angeles.

“Paper will always be a part of our daily routines, because it not only meets important needs, but also brings excitement and joy,” said Paige Goff, Domtar’s vice president of sustainability and business communications. “We created a ‘Paper Fun Truck’ for the fun it would bring, but also to illustrate that, even in the digital age, paper remains a fundamental part of everyone’s life.”

Domtar’s series of humorous videos as part of the PAPERbecause campaign have been viewed more than half a million times. The Fortune 500 company’s campaign has also been written about by The New York Times, honored by readers of Newsweek and named a finalist for an award at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, the world’s most prestigious annual advertising and communications awards honoring marketing excellence.
